Hotdog and Bacon Fried Rice

I had extra hotdogs in the freezer, and I didn’t know what to do with them. There are many options, like Naporitan, but I wanted something I thought my niblings would enjoy when I go see them. That’s when hotdog fried rice came to mind. My 7-year-old niece loves hotdogs, and since I had extra turkey bacon, I thought, why not add that too?

Fried rice is one of the things I love to make because it is:

  • easily adaptable with various ingredients
  • simple and quick to prepare
  • great for using leftover rice and ingredients
  • cost-effective, especially with leftovers
  • an efficient way to use small amounts of different ingredients
  • customizable according to personal preference

In this recipe, I added hotdogs and bacon as my protein source. Spring onions, carrots, and corn kernels are my veggies of choice – these three are a MUST when I’m making fried rice. Of course, day-old jasmine rice is my carb of choice.

This is optional, but you can also add seasoning granules or chicken powder, and garlic to enhance the fried rice flavor. And yes, I also added ketchup because hotdogs and ketchup should be enjoyed together.

A bit about my niece – she loves hotdogs. Yeah, I know I already mentioned that. Despite not being a fan of veggies, she promised me she would start eating them. I have no idea if she has already given it a try, but perhaps this could be her “trial” dish, if that’s even a thing. I really hope she enjoys it, though. Fingers crossed.🤞🏼

NOTES ON HOTDOG AND BACON FRIED RICE:

  • Customize according to your personal preference
  • You can use grated/shredded carrots instead of chopped carrots
