Milo Dinosaur
Milo is a malt and chocolate powder that’s usually mixed with hot or cold water and sugar. Alternatively, you can also use mix it with milk. I enjoyed Milo since I was a kid.
Cold Milo drink is my usual drink during recess time when I was in grade school. In my family, we love Milo a lot that we use to eat the powder itself. I think we love it more when we eat the powder straight from the container or from the individual sachets rather than when it is in drinkable/liquid form.😅
Although I love Milo so much, I haven’t thought of adding the powder on top of my drink until I discovered it in Malaysia. A cold Milo drink is famous in Malaysia and that’s one of the things I enjoyed when I was there. And what makes me smile – that cold Milo drink has a name and it’s called Milo Dinosaur. I am not sure what’s with the name. Why not Milo Giraffe or Milo Dragon?🤔😂 Well, whatever the reason, who cares?? This thing is one of the best cold drinks you’ll ever have, especially when you grew up with Milo or when you love a malt and chocolate drink.
>> Just for fun, I shared a video on YouTube channel. <<
Milo Dinosaur is simply a cold Milo drink with water (or milk), ice cubes and sweetener, topped with more Milo powder. For a more chocolatey taste, you can add cocoa powder. For me, who grew up with Milo, this drink is one of the best drinks I’ve enjoyed.
TIPS:
(1) I made this the night before and placed in a liquid container. The mixture became very cold the next day and the only thing I did the next day was get my glass with ice and poured the Milo mixture and then topped with a heaping spoonful of Milo powder. I also added Milo cubes. Perfectly delish!
(2) You can also make a huge batch of this and keep in the fridge. When you are ready, just take a glass and ice cubes. A make-ahead Milo drink – that’s amazing, right? Right! Don’t forget the Milo powder – it makes the drink more enjoyable. You can thank me later and your kids would tell their friends that their parent makes the best Milo Dinosaur. 😉
I am taking this amazing drink at Fiesta Firiday #273, hosted by Mollie and Angie.
Milo Dinosaur
Ingredients
- ½ cup Milo powder
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- ½ tbsp powdered creamer (I used Coffee-Mate)
- 1 tbsp sugar or to taste
- ¼ cup (60 ml) hot water
- 250 ml (1 cup) cold water
- Ice cubes
- 2-3 tbsp Milo powder for topping
- Milo cubes for topping (optional)
Instructions
-
In a mug, dissolve Milo powder, cocoa powder, powdered creamer and sugar in hot water. Stir to make a paste and add cold water.
-
In a glass, add ice cubes and pour the Milo mixture.
-
Add more Milo powder for topping and Milo cubes (if using).
Recipe Notes
Please feel free to adjust the measurements according to your liking.
TIPS:
- You can make the mixture (without the ice and toppings) ahead of time – transfer to a liquid container and keep it in the fridge to make it colder.
- You can also double, triple the recipe and keep in a larger liquid container. By doing that, it’s almost ready and you can enjoy your drink anytime you love. I did this already and it’s one of the amazing things I did. 😀

Sarap nito. I substituted 1/4 cup milk for the creamer bec i didn’t have any, and added 3/4 cup water instead. Thank you for this!
Jhuls @ The Not So Creative Cook
Yay! That’s a good substitute! Genius! Thanks for the tip. Hope you’ll come back here soon.☺️

Angie | Fiesta Friday
Never heard of the drink before, Jhuls, but I’m sure I’ve seen Milo, though not in the cube form. Can you eat the cubes like candy? That’s what I would do 😀 It sounds yummy!
Jhuls @ The Not So Creative Cook
I am so amazed how they formed the Milo cubes, Angie. They are just like the Milo powder in cube form and just dissolve in your mouth.😁 Thanks for hosting, Angie.😘
Angie | Fiesta Friday
Btw, forgot to ask if you can cohost next week or the week after. I’ve asked Laurena, too. We need the dynamic duo of Jhuls & Laurena! Maybe give her a nudge, Jhuls, so she’ll say yes 😀
Jhuls @ The Not So Creative Cook
Of course, Angie. I would love to. And I know Laurena would say yes.😁 We’ve been waiting for this.😂
Angie | Fiesta Friday
Yay! next week then? Tomorrow I’ll be hosting with Liz
Jhuls @ The Not So Creative Cook
Hi, Angie. Two of your comments went to the SPAM folder including this. Anyway, good thing we (Laurena & I) got the message. 😀
Angie | Fiesta Friday
So you and Laurena will take next week?
Jhuls @ The Not So Creative Cook
That would be perfect, Angie.💃🏻 Can’t wait.😁
Angie | Fiesta Friday
Would you let Laurena know, please
Jhuls @ The Not So Creative Cook
Again, this went to the SPAM folder. Good thing I already messaged Laurena thru Instagram. 😀

What’s going on?! I tried to leave a comment on your Milo cupcakes but it seemed it didn’t recognize me anymore and kept saying I didn’t leave a valid website???
Jhuls @ The Not So Creative Cook
Oh! I am so sorry about that, Angie. I also don’t know. I’ve been blocked logging in into my own site twice this week!!😡
Corina Blum
I remember drinking Milo 10 years ago when I went to Tanzania but I’ve never seen it at home. My son would love this drink as he love anything with chocolate!
Jhuls @ The Not So Creative Cook
I wish I could send you some, Corina. I haven’t tasted a chocolate-malt drink that I can compare to Milo. Or maybe I forgot how they taste. 😀 Thank you – I am sure your son would love this. I hope you are having a fab week!
FrugalHausfrau
I have heard of milo but never seen it. I always wondered if it was like our Nestle’s Nesquick which is a chocolate powder meant to be put in milk. But Nesquick doesn’t have cubes. Anyway, it looks delish!!
Jhuls @ The Not So Creative Cook
Hi, Mollie! For me, Nesquik is sweeter. I hope you get to try Milo and let me know. The cubes aren’t available in grocery stores (at least that’s what I know), but you can get them online. They are cute and yummy! 😉 Thanks for co-hosting!
FrugalHausfrau
My pleasure, Jhuls!!
Ron
I’ve never heard of Milo or tried it. I’m not even sure if we can find it here, but will have a look. I love malted chocolate milk shakes, so I’m sure I’d enjoy this.
Jhuls @ The Not So Creative Cook
Now, I have to try malted chocolate milkshakes. 😀 Thank you, Ron. I am sure you’d enjoy this. I hope you are having a wonderful week!
salsachica
Add a scoop of ice cream before you sprinkle the Milo powder to make the Milo Godzilla !
Jhuls @ The Not So Creative Cook
Yeahhh, I am going to try that next time.😁 Maybe a chocolate ice cream?
salsachica
Chocolate or vanilla would be yummy! 😋

Thank you, Andrea. I really hope you’d love this one as much as I did. I am making a huge batch again later today. 😀
