Milo is a malt and chocolate powder that’s usually mixed with hot or cold water and sugar. Alternatively, you can also use mix it with milk. I enjoyed Milo since I was a kid.
Cold Milo drink is my usual drink during recess time when I was in grade school. In my family, we love Milo a lot that we use to eat the powder itself. I think we love it more when we eat the powder straight from the container or from the individual sachets rather than when it is in drinkable/liquid form.😅
Although I love Milo so much, I haven’t thought of adding the powder on top of my drink until I discovered it in Malaysia. A cold Milo drink is famous in Malaysia and that’s one of the things I enjoyed when I was there. And what makes me smile – that cold Milo drink has a name and it’s called Milo Dinosaur. I am not sure what’s with the name. Why not Milo Giraffe or Milo Dragon?🤔😂 Well, whatever the reason, who cares?? This thing is one of the best cold drinks you’ll ever have, especially when you grew up with Milo or when you love a malt and chocolate drink.
>> Just for fun, I shared a video on YouTube channel. <<
Milo Dinosaur is simply a cold Milo drink with water (or milk), ice cubes and sweetener, topped with more Milo powder. For a more chocolatey taste, you can add cocoa powder. For me, who grew up with Milo, this drink is one of the best drinks I’ve enjoyed.
TIPS:
(1) I made this the night before and placed in a liquid container. The mixture became very cold the next day and the only thing I did the next day was get my glass with ice and poured the Milo mixture and then topped with a heaping spoonful of Milo powder. I also added Milo cubes. Perfectly delish!
(2) You can also make a huge batch of this and keep in the fridge. When you are ready, just take a glass and ice cubes. A make-ahead Milo drink – that’s amazing, right? Right! Don’t forget the Milo powder – it makes the drink more enjoyable. You can thank me later and your kids would tell their friends that their parent makes the best Milo Dinosaur. 😉
I am taking this amazing drink at Fiesta Firiday #273, hosted by Mollie and Angie.
Milo Dinosaur
Ingredients
- ½ cup Milo powder
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- ½ tbsp powdered creamer (I used Coffee-Mate)
- 1 tbsp sugar or to taste
- ¼ cup (60 ml) hot water
- 250 ml (1 cup) cold water
- Ice cubes
- 2-3 tbsp Milo powder for topping
- Milo cubes for topping (optional)
Instructions
-
In a mug, dissolve Milo powder, cocoa powder, powdered creamer and sugar in hot water. Stir to make a paste and add cold water.
-
In a glass, add ice cubes and pour the Milo mixture.
-
Add more Milo powder for topping and Milo cubes (if using).
Recipe Notes
Please feel free to adjust the measurements according to your liking.
TIPS:
- You can make the mixture (without the ice and toppings) ahead of time – transfer to a liquid container and keep it in the fridge to make it colder.
- You can also double, triple the recipe and keep in a larger liquid container. By doing that, it’s almost ready and you can enjoy your drink anytime you love. I did this already and it’s one of the amazing things I did. 😀
