Mini Egg Pies

Co-hosting FF15 with Selma was so much exciting, amazing, fun and crazy (in a good way, of course). I was literally grinning in front of the computer while I was reading and leaving comments. I had fun exchanging emails with Selma and Angie. And of course, I really had fun chatting with everyone! <3 If given another chance, I would love to co-host again! But I could pretend as one, too! 😀

***

This week has been the craziest week I ever had in months. It was super busy at work that I could not even leave my seat to pee (Thank you, Stacey, for clarifying things for me! 😀 ); no wonder I was so exhausted when I arrive home.  I thought I’m not going to make it to FF16 – I am ecstatic that I am here today! Wohoo!! 😀 I really wish that I would have  more free time during daytime, so I could catch up with what’s happening with you guys. One day, I will stop by and chat with everyone again. Well, I really hope it will be the soonest!

***

Do you think the Filipino cravings ended? Uh-oh! Not yet! But this will not be a new recipe, I will take you back to the first few months of my blog. I don’t think many of you have seen my first posts, so I will bring you one of my favorites.

thenotsocreativecook-MiniEggPie2I made these cutie little egg pies for my friend. I was supposed to make the regular-sized pie, but I know she’d love this more (she loves the crust more than the custard filling) so I figured out it is best to make it cuter. Besides, it’s her birthday and not  mine. So she should love these more than me. 😉 I enjoyed making these, though I know I had to deal with the crust – you know, the mixing of the butter and the flour. Good thing is no ‘flour powder‘ happened. 😀 (Be proud of me, Lori! Haha!)

thenotsocreativecook-MiniEggPie

I was just not satisfied enough with the color of the custard filling as the egg yolks were a little pale. 😐 Well, that’s fine! The important thing is they were delicious and really satisfied my cravings and made my friend happy. <3

Egg Pie Recipe can be found here. I used the same baking time and temperature for baking these on muffin pan.

These cutie little egg pies are also good for Fiesta Friday. Hmm, been bringing cute little treats for the last few FF’s, eh? 😀 They are more fun to eat. It’s not so good eating little treats while chatting – you’d never know that you have eaten too much! 😛 Hope you enjoy these and HAPPY FF16.

Yum Yum Yum!!!! Whoever said you are the not so creative cook. You have brought the most adorable cute little things to the party. I am loving it 😍

  • frankiesfeast

These look delish!! And I know what you mean about wanting more time in the day, I feel like I’m always playing catch up with everyone else’s blogs (and my own!). I’m glad I’m not the only one.

    • Jhuls

And I am playing the catch-up game for almost 6 hours now! I can’t believe I have not read so many comments. 😐

Hope you have a relaxing weekend! 🙂

    • Jhuls

Hi, Patty! I was shocked to find out that this comment has been waiting on my spam folder.

Thanks for stopping by, Patty! I hope you are well and have a relaxing weekend! 🙂

  • petra08

Oh I know I was a bit late to the party but if there are any left I would love to get my hands on one as they look absolutely delicious! 🙂

  • emmasouthlondon

    Thank you for co-hosting Jhuls,
and thanks for your helpful tips –
I’m new to FF, but really enjoying it and appreciate all the advice!
Your mini pies look amazing – inspirational!
    Emma 🙂

    • Jhuls

Hi, Emma! I can’t believe I have pending comments from last Fiesta Friday! Must have been another busy week for me!

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and have a fab weekend! 🙂

    • Jhuls

I am delighted to know that you love anything ‘mini’. No wonder you’ll love these, too! 😀 Thank you for stopping by! Have a fab week ahead. <3

  • Ngan R.

Love these Jhuls. These reminded me of the Chinese egg custard cups, and from the look of your cross section of the egg pie, the consistency looks the same too! I think you are a very sweet friend to make these the way your friend likes them. And you were a perfect co-host — I’d party with you any day! xx

    • Jhuls

Ehem! If you’d ask my friends to describe me – sweet is one of them. 😀
Anyway, let get back to the egg pies… I think they are just the same with the Chinese egg custard cups and Portuguese egg tarts. These egg pies were really delicious and my friend really loved them. She wanted more over the weekend but the time did not give me a chance to make some. 🙁 Better luck next time. 😀
Thank you, Ngan! I’d love to party with you all day, too. Do you mind chatting all day? 😀
Have a wonderful week ahead. <3

  • Shari

Hi Jhuls, This is my second time to join fiesta friday, and I am having a great time! I love the little egg pies you brought. They are so cute! I love cute food and mini versions of things. I hope you get to have a relaxing weekend as it sounds like you had a pretty busy week.

    • Jhuls

Fiesta Friday is so much fun. It’s so good to sit back after a long, busy week and chat with everyone. I hope you’ll come back for more. 🙂
Thank you, Shari! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, too. <3

  • joicemae

Hello France Jhuls! I just want to say thank you for persuading me to join Fiesta Friday. I am very delighted to meet new blogger friends because of you♥
I miss you. Btw I want to eat your egg pie right now. 🙂

    • Jhuls

France!! 😀 😀 Thank goodness you are finally here! I’m very happy to see you. So bad you did not started joining last week – I co-hosted FF15 with Selma. 😀 Anyway, what matters most is you finally joined us. 🙂 Thank you so much for coming over. <3

Get your share now – these will be gone soon! 😀

  • Stacey Bender

These are cute, cutie, cute; festive styling has not gone un-noticed! Yum!

I know the feeling of being so busy you can’t even (sit?) stand to pee (insert inappropriate vision here). I stand at my desk so it took a few minutes to compute.

You are also still a little hung-over from the festivities, right! Happy next week, sans exhaustion!

    • Jhuls

Stacey!! Did you came to check on me or to check on my little treats? Did Angie and Elaine ask you to take me away from the dessert bar. Oh boy! I hope not. 😀

Hhmm, about that “I can’t even (sit?) stand to pee…” I was thinking if I wrote the correct phrase after I published that one. Okay, let me clarify that – maybe you did imagine me standing while, you know. LOL. 😐 I wanted to say, I can’t even leave my seat to pee. Better, right? Clear enough. *editing now* )Maybe some will be confused, so better to edit.) 😛

Thank you for co-hosting for FF16, Stacey. Hope you had fun. <3 Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    • Jhuls

So that means we’ll have a fight over these pies. 😀 Anyway, they are too many – I guess everyone will have their share. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Ada! Hope you have a great weekend! <3

    • Jhuls

Did yo get your share, Liz? Well, I hope the people at Fiesta Friday did not finish everything! 😀
By the way, when are going to join us? Fiesta Friday, I mean. It would be more fun with you, Liz. 🙂 Hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend! <3

  • The Novice Gardener

Jhuls, these look so cute! Perfect for popping them in your mouth whole, haha… I am such a glut, but egg custard pies have that effect on me. It’s really not my fault. It’s the egg pie’s fault! I can relate to the exhaustion. Been having that kind of weeks myself. Take it easy, Jhuls. We’re not going anywhere. Whenever you can visit, we’re always happy. 🙂

    • Jhuls

Hmm, I could imagine every guest with the whole egg pies on their mouth. 😀 You think we could ask them do it? 😐
Egg pies have that effect on me, too. Anything custardy thing. 🙂
Thank you, Angie! Hope we get a relaxing weekend. <3

  • FireBonnet

How darling! Perfect size for a party. Thank you so much for co-hosting last week. It was a wonderful introduction for me to Fiesta Friday to have your cheery words on my post. Happy Fiesta Friday!

    • Jhuls

I hope you did get your share of these little egg pies. 🙂
I had fun co-hosting last week. I hope you’ll come back for more FF. Have a great week ahead! <3

  • Michelle

These are adorable! And look so tasty too! I’m a big fan of custard, but I’ve not quite mastered the art of making it myself yet (always too many lumps!). Tiny, cute food is perfect for parties, it means we can eat as many as we like without feeling bad!
I hope you have a nice relaxing weekend after such a crazy week Jhuls, get those feet up!

    • Jhuls

I brought enough for the party as I know that lovely people of FF love mini version of yummy treats. I just hope you did get your share, Michelle. 🙂
Hmm, lumps? Maybe you need to beat more? Anyway, I hope you try this and let me know. 🙂
Thanks for the wishes, Michelle. I hope you do have a great week ahead! <3

  • Nancy

Glad you made it to the party, Jhuls, especially after such a crazy week! These little egg pies look soooo good! I don’t think I’d even need a fork… 😛

    • Jhuls

Honestly speaking, I have not slept very well on Thursday night because I was thinking of FF16. (I think FF has really that effect on me, eh?) I usually have my post ready one day before FF (before the crazy weeks), considering I already have something to share (recipes/photos). So yeah, I got used to doing that. So on Friday morning, I finished everything I needed to do to start with FF16 post because I know that when I start to open the computer to do my FF16 post, it’s 100% sure that I’ll not finished what I started doing (at home). 😀

Haha! That was a long explanation. 😀 Thank you, Nancy! I am glad that I made it, too! I would never want to miss FF and everyone. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! <3

      • Nancy

I’m amazed by the “guilt” I put on myself when I don’t make my own deadlines! It sounds like you may have done a little of that too. 🙂 So happy it all worked out in the end!

  • Elaine @ foodbod

Hi lovely Jhuls, great to see you at the party ☺️ I only hope I can do as well as you and Selma did last week 🙏 I love these pies,I completely agree with getting more pastry in your pie!!! Take care honey xxx

  • lapetitecasserole

Even though you had a really stressfull week I can still feel you energy trough your words… isn’t it true? And another time you’re sharing another great recipe with us, your pies are really cute, a perfect bite!

    • Jhuls

Even if I had a rough week, cooking, baking and blogging (esp. chatting with everyone & FF) relieves my stress. 🙂
Thank you, Margy. These are indeed perfect bite and perfect for FF.
Hope you have a pleasant weekend. <3

  • Stephanie @ The Cozy Cook

I’m with you, I loveeee little treats, I like everything portion sized, (doesn’t mean I won’t eat more than my fair share anyway but it’s just more fun!) These look really good- I like them because they’re good for any time of day, yummmmmmmmmm 🙂 Thanks for bringing them to FF!!!! 🙂

    • Jhuls

I love little treats, too. 😀 They are easy to eat and yes, we’ll eat more than our share. Besides, we wouldn’t notice if we have eaten more than we can handle. 😀

It’s my pleasure to bring them to FF. Thank you for coming over, Stephanie! <3 Have a wonderful weekend!

    • Jhuls

It feels like FF15 was just yesterday, Selma! I also had an amazing FF15 last week ‘coz I was co-hosting with you. Would love to do that again. 😀

  • laurasmess

Ah, I definitely understand what you’re feeling. This week has been crazy for me too. I’m sitting here at work spending a few minutes reading blog posts… as I have quite a bit to do before I get home. Oh, escapism. How I love thee!
Back to Fiesta Friday and these gorgeous little baked pies of egg goodness! I love the FF series… always a great way to end the week. As for these pies? That custardy egg interior looks divine! I’m definitely going to try them (my husband is obsessed with anything remotely quiche-like in a crispy pastry, so I think he’d be in absolute heaven). have an amazing weekend Jhuls (hopefully a relaxing one too!) xxx

    • Jhuls

Hi, Laura. I’ve missed you. 🙂
Saturday was pretty busy, too. Well, today is another busy day. Just got my hands on the computer to check WP and reply to some comments. I’d really love to escape this busy life, Laura. Maybe, one day I will. 😀

Anyway, thank you for your lovely comment. I was supposed to make these again yesterday, but time did not give me any chance. Please let me know if you try them. 🙂

Hope you have a relaxing weekend, too! <3

    • Jhuls

Yeah! It was sad without you and some others. 🙁 But, I understand. I am sure you’d join us if you didn’t have other important stuff. 🙂 I am glad you stopped by. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. <3

    • Jhuls

Ha! We torture each other, Dimple! 😀
Thank you for the wishes! Hope you have a lovely weekend and happy FF16. <3 I've missed you, too!

  • Lori

I’m so sorry it has been such a crazy week! Have definitely missed seeing you as often! Mmmmmm….these egg pies look good! 🙂 <3
