Delimondo Tapa Corned Beef

Tapa is a component of a Filipino meal called Tapsilog. Tapsilog is a short name for the words TAPA (beef tapa, or other meats can be used), SINANGAG (fried rice) and ITLOG (egg). I am overjoyed that I can enjoy it in the form of Delimondo Tapa Corned Beef.

Beef Tapa is similar to beef jerky and it is traditionally made by curing the beef with salt and other spices. It is then dried before frying. Since some of us don’t want to undergo all that, we just marinate the thin slices of beef with soy sauce, calamansi juice, sugar, garlic and black pepper before frying.

The procedure is very easy, but there are times that I suddenly crave for Beef Tapa only to find out I don’t have beef in the freezer. Or if I do, waiting for at least 4-5 hours (marinate and frying time) for someone who has an “urgent” 😂 craving is not an option.

So, when craving suddenly strikes, Delimondo Tapa Corned Beef really saves the day. Plus, it tastes like the actual tapa – garlicky, sweet and not too salty.💯 If you know me well, you’d probably know how I love canned corned beef but I don’t like it toasted. However, this Delimondo Tapa Corned Beef, is an exception. I prefer it to look as close as possible to the actual Beef Tapa, thus the toasted look and dark in color.

Since this canned version is tasty enough, I didn’t add anything except the toasted garlic (added as garnish). Of course, this also pairs well with fried rice, atchara (papaya pickles) and vinegar dipping sauce. 😋

NOTES ON DELIMONDO TAPA CORNED BEEF:

  • The corned beef can be cooked as per your preferred texture – soft or crispy.
  • Pairs with the actual beef tapa sides/dipping sauces like atchara, spiced vinegar, and even ketchup.
