Dalgona Mocha Frappe
I really loved the Dalgona Coffee I made and I’ve been craving for a frappe lately. I thought why not make a frappe with that coffee foam on top?
I’ve been into iced coffee lately. Maybe it’s because summer has already started and I can feel the heat of the sun on my skin whenever I go out. What’s a better way to quench your thirst? There are so many ways, actually.
You can try this Watermelon and Mint Lemonade, Mango Lemonade or this Mocha Frappe. Ahhh! I need to make all of them very soon. But first, let me tell you about this Dalgona Mocha Frappe.
If you haven’t met Dalgona Coffee yet, it is milk and ice cubes with a whipped coffee on top. It is perfect for coffee lovers like me. As per what I observed, Dalgona speaking😅, it is anything with ice cubes and milk that’s topped with the coffee foam.
As you know, mocha is a combination of coffee and chocolate. In this drink, both are blended with milk, cream, cocoa powder, dark chocolate (you can use milk chocolate), chocolate syrup, and ice cubes. As to the ice cubes, I prefer using ice cubes made with coffee or chocolate. You can use the regular ice cubes, of course.
To serve this, just add the blended mixture into a glass and top with the coffee foam. For me, I love to have additional chocolate syrup on top and oh, additinal chopped dark chocolate. For the coffee foam, since you will set it aside while doing the frappe, you can beat it again to make it more stiff before putting on top of the frappe – I didn’t do it and it’s fine with me.
Just a quick note: This drink is strong on coffee – you can reduce the amount of coffee or add more milk and cream.
I’ve shared a video on my YouTube channel. Please don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe. See you there! 😉
I am taking this yummy drink with me at Angie’s Fiesta Friday #326. Thanks to out co-hosts, Antonia @ Zoale.com and Zeba @ Food For The Soul.
Dalgona Mocha Frappe
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp white sugar
- 2 tbsp coffee granules
- 2 tbsp hot water
- 3 x 17 g instant coffee mix
- 125 ml warm water
- 60 ml fresh/full cream milk
- 60 ml heavy/whipping cream
- about 3 tbsp chocolate syrup
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- about 4 tbsp chopped chocolate (I used dark)
- 2 cups ice cubes
- Chocolate syrup for topping
- Chopped/grated chocolate for topping
Instructions
-
Dissolve instant coffee in warm water. Set aside to cool down.
-
For the coffee foam: in a bowl, add white sugar, coffee granules, and hot water. Beat using an electric hand mixer until stiff. You can also use a wire whisk but it may take longer time. Set aside.
-
In a blender, add cooled coffee, milk, heavy cream, cocoa powder, chopped chocolate, and ice cubes. Blend until desired consistency is achieved.
-
Before serving, you can beat the coffee foam again to make it more stiff.
-
Place the frappe in a glass and then put the coffee foam on top. You may add more chocolate syrup and chopped chocolate on top.
Recipe Notes
You can reduce the amount of coffee in the coffee foam recipe and the amount of instant coffee in the frappe.
