Ingredients

  • Cooking oil
  • 5 cloves garlic sliced
  • 250 g beef sliced thinly and across the grain
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tbsp liquid seasoning
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • Toasted garlic for garnish

For the gravy:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ½ beef cube
  • 1 ¼ cup water
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp liquid seasoning

Instructions

  1. In a pan over medium-high heat, add cooking oil.
  2. When the cooking oil is hot enough, add garlic and cook just until fragrant.
  3. Add beef slices and cook until no longer pink.
  4. Also add soy sauce, liquid seasoning and ground black pepper. Stir and cook the beef until dry.
  5. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  6. Using the same pan over low heat, add butter and let it melt. Then, add flour and mix well. (You can also use a clean pan.)
  7. Add beef cube, water, garlic powder, ground black pepper and liquid seasoning. Stir until mixture is thick.
  8. Do a taste test and adjust accordingly.
  9. To serve, add a cup of warm rice on your plate. Place the cooked beef next to the rice then pour the warm gravy over the beef then garnish with toasted garlic.
  10. Enjoy while warm.

Recipe Notes

  • I used low-fat beef cubes, then I cut it thinly and across the grain.
  • The gravy recipe is more than enough for 250 g of beef. If you are not a gravy person, you can half the gravy recipe. I used the leftovers with fried chicken wings.
  • This makes 2-3 servings.
