Beef Giniling (Afritada Style)

Ground beef and veggies simmered in tomato-based sauce that goes very well with rice rice.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 4 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper chopped
  • 1/3 cup frozen green peas
  • 300 g ground beef
  • 250 ml tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup carrots diced
  • 1/2 cup potatoes diced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp liquid seasoning optional
  • 1-2 beef cubes
  • 125-250 ml water
  • Sugar, salt & pepper, to taste
  • Rice to serve

Instructions

  1. In a pot over medium-high heat, add oil.

  2. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant. Add onion and cook until translucent. Next, add red bell pepper and cook until soften.

  3. Add ground beef and cook until no longer pink, breaking down into small pieces.

  4. Pour tomato sauce, then add potatoes and carrots.

  5. Add tomato paste, soy sauce, liquid seasoning (if using), beef cubes, and water. Let it boil and add frozen green peas.

  6. Over low-medium heat, simmer for 10 minutes or until beef and veggies are cooked.

  7. Add sugar, salt, and pepper according to your taste.

  8. Remove from the pot and enjoy with white rice.

Recipe Notes

You can adjust the taste by adding more tomato sauce, water, beef cubes, sugar, salt, and pepper.

This tastes better the next day.
