Beef Giniling (Afritada Style) – so what is it?? Afritada is a kind of Filipino dish, inspired by Spain, which uses tomato sauce as the base. It is usually made with chicken or chunks of meat.
Giniling (Filipino term for ground), also inspired by Spain (called Picadillo), is another famous Filipino dish. Given the many variations of Picadillo, I honestly don’t know what’s the traditional way of cooking it, considering that cooking it the traditional way is a big deal.
I am a person who loves saucy dishes. If there is a ground beef recipe that has very little sauce, I would always adjust the recipe, mostly make it double (but maybe not Sriracha Beef Bowls). So not knowing exactly what I would call this recipe I am sharing today, I prefer to stick to Beef Giniling (Afritada Style) since it is made with ground beef with tomato sauce as a base like afritada.
This dish is one of our comfort foods. It is made by sauteing the ground beef and cooked in tomato sauce with beef cubes and added veggies such as potatoes, carrots, frozen green peas, and bell peppers – all simmered until cooked. Optional ingredients include Knorr Liquid Seasoning, soy sauce, and tomato paste.
It is usually enjoyed with warm white rice and tastes so much better the next day. Ahhh! My mouth is watering!
I hope you get to watch the recipe video below and let me know what you think. 🙂
I am bringing this at Fiesta Friday # 280. Our co-host this week is Ai @ Ai Made It For You. Angie will also be hosting with Ai.
