Instant Hot Chocolate Mix
Homemade instant hot chocolate mix is always better. Do you agree?
I met different forms of chocolate drinks when I was a child –boxed chocolate drink, instant chocolate mixes… you name it. I loved all of them.
As a child, all you care about is hot chocolate drink. You wouldn’t think about the best hot chocolate in town.
When I was growing up, I realized that there’s something waaaay better – homemade hot chocolate made with real chocolate, milk, marshmallows, and cream.
Because of my undying love for hot chocolate drinks, I tried buying different instant hot chocolate mixes – none of them made me really happy. Only when I started blogging when I found out that you can make your own instant hot chocolate mix. Ha! I’ve been living under a rock all this time.
WHY MAKE YOUR OWN INSTANT HOT CHOCOLATE MIX?
That’s a good question.
It depends on the preference of the person. Personally, I find the store-bought hot chocolate mixes very sweet. Yes, you can add more milk/cream to your drink, but you lose the taste. Also, making your own hot chocolate mix gives you the luxury to control the ingredients you are using. Most importantly (for me), you know what’s in it.
I’ve been making this hot chocolate mix during cold season for like seven years now and it always makes me happy.
NOTES:
- This instant hot chocolate mix is not as sweet as the store-bought ones. You may need to add powdered sugar to the mixture if you like it to be on the sweeter side.
- I used 70% mild dark chocolate. You can use milk chocolate if that’s what you like.
- Espresso is optional.
