Watermelon and Mint Lemonade
We have lots of sunshine and hot air these days, so what’s lovelier than to enjoy a refreshing drink like this Watermelon and Mint Lemonade?
Watermelon is everywhere and I couldn’t help myself – I had to make something. The first thing that always comes to mind is lemonade. After tasting this lemonade, it brought me back to the time I made another lemonade with watermelon. Now, you know how much I love watermelon in lemonade. Although this and the previous version look exactly the same, they taste a little different.
This Watermelon and Mint Lemonade has more mint in it. Also, mint leaves were added with sugar and water to make the syrup, and that makes this drink more on the taste of mint.
Both taste equally delicious and oh so refreshing!
I just love the beautiful specks of mint. Just look at this:
Making this lemonade is very easy, but I think you know that already.
One thing you have to decide is whether is you’d like to strain the blended watermelon or not. Not straining the blended watermelon will give you a cloudy drink like this. On the other hand, straining will give you a clearer and prettier drink like the one pictured above. Personally, I don’t mind the cloudy one if I’ll drink everything by myself.
This lemonade is so addicting, refreshing and so good! And you know what? It tastes better than the ones served in popular (and expensive!) restaurants. Take my word on this because I usually get seduced by the fancy names restaurants give to drinks like lemonade. Sooo, why not make this at home instead?
I am taking this amazing drink at Angie’s Fiesta Friday #278.
Watermelon and Mint Lemonade
A delicious and refreshing drink that’s perfect for summer. It has a mint-infused syrup and more mint leaves to make that mint flavor really stand out without messing up the taste of watermelon and lemon. It is really one of the best lemonades you’ll ever have.
Ingredients
Syrup:
- 250 ml (1 cup) water
- 200 g (1 cup) sugar
- 1 cup fresh mint leaves washed
Lemonade:
- 4 cups cubed watermelon
- 3/4 cup fresh mint leaves washed
- 6 lemons juiced
- Syrup recipe above
- 250 ml (1 cup) cold water
- Ice cubes
Instructions
-
In a small pot over low heat, add water, sugar, and fresh mint leaves. Bring to simmer for 5 minutes. Set aside to cool down. When cooled down, strain the syrup to remove the mint leaves.
-
In a blender, add watermelon. Blend until pureed. Strain the blended watermelon and place in the liquid container.
-
In the same blender, add mint leaves, lemon juice and syrup. Blend for few seconds just until the mint leaves are chopped up. Add this to the liquid container with the blended and strained watermelon.
-
Add cold water and give it a good mix. Pour into glasses. Add ice cubes, mint leaves and sliced lemons. Enjoy one of the amazing lemonade drinks!
Recipe Notes
It is nice to keep the watermelon very cold – it makes your drink colder and lovely to enjoy right away.
You can add more mint leaves (in step 3) to have that mint flavor really stand out, but it will give your drink a darker color. As for me, I don’t mind – I love it!
At the end, you can adjust the taste according to your liking – add more lemon juice, mint or water.
Before you go…
This Mango Lemonade is also a great drink to enjoy and it’s one of my favorites!
Thanks a bunch for spending your precious time with me!

It sounds cool and refreshing… I’ll probably start with no added sugar, then slowly add some in until it tastes right to this sourpuss… grin.
