Cheesesteak Tortilla Sandwich

The cheesesteak is perfect with the soft tortilla. The beef is so tender, the slightly caramelized onion and green bell pepper is just amazing! And oh, it can be done in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup sliced white onion
  • 1/3 cup sliced green bell pepper
  • 200 g steak I used ribeye
  • Salt & pepper to taste (a pinch or two)
  • 2 tortilla wraps I used the large size
  • Mayonnaise
  • Cheese slices I used cheddar and mozzarella

Instructions

  1. Add oil in a hot pan. When the oil is hot enough, add sliced onions – cook for one minute. Add green bell pepper. Slightly caramelize the onion and bell pepper. Transfer to a plate.
  2. On the same pan (add oil if necessary), add the beef. Cook until no longer pink (about 1-2 minutes).
  3. Add the cooked veggies back to the pan and mix. Add salt & pepper to taste.
  4. Turn off the heat.

Assemble the tortilla sandwich:

  1. Cut a slit to the middle of tortilla.

  2. Fill or top each quarter section of the tortilla with mayonnaise, cheesesteak, and cheese.

  3. Fold upwards and then keep making folds moving in the same direction until you get a layered wrap. (see the video for visuals)

  4. Heat the sandwich using a panini press or heat on a pan.

Enjoy immediately.

Recipe Notes

NOTES:

  • I used a ribeye steak.
  • Don’t overcook the beef. For me, it took me two minutes to cook the beef.
  • Slightly caramelize the onion and bell pepper – so good!
  • Provolone cheese was not available, so I used cheddar and mozzarella.
