Blogging and cooking are two passions that have captivated many individuals, including myself. They serve as creative outlets, allowing us to share our culinary adventures with the world, while also serving as stress relievers. However, at times, the motivation to blog and the excitement of cooking at home can fade.
It’s funny because I often tell my BFF, “I want to cook like this because I want to share it on my blog and social media accounts.” It’s almost as if I’m cooking either because (1) certain recipes are trending or (2) because I think ‘people might like them.’ I’m not embarrassed to admit this, and perhaps some food bloggers can relate. I remember that there were times when I spent a lot of time thinking about what to post next and then tweaking recipes to match my preferences.
Lately, I’ve been cooking solely to satisfy my hunger. I haven’t been feeling quite like myself, and my excitement for exploring food through cooking has suddenly declined. I now prefer eating out over cooking at home.
Who knows, my culinary interests may rekindle the joys of cooking and blogging someday. In the meantime, let me share with you our recent restaurant experience…
SMK – Holy SMOKD specializes in smoked brisket. I was not a huge fan of smoked brisket until our visit.
Here’s what we had…
Beef Brisket: Fork-tender and mouthwatering, it has a melt-in-your-mouth texture and a rich, smoky flavor, especially when paired with barbecue sauce. It’s truly an amazing experience.
Burger & Brisket Bun: This is a unique and absolutely unforgettable burger. The richness of the brisket, the crunch of onion rings, and the refreshing touch of cucumber combine to create a different kind of burger. PERFECTION!
Cheesy Fries: Imagine hot, crispy fries covered in warm, melted cheese.🤤
Slaw: While it lacks depth of flavor, it provided a nice contrast to our meal.
And because we liked what we had during our first visit, we came back after one week.
We had:
Burnt Ends: I believe these are brisket cubes with scorched ends, which pair perfectly with barbecue sauce.
Smokey Joe Burger: Also delicious, but I personally prefer the Burger & Brisket Bun.
Mashed Potatoes and Mac & Cheese: There’s room for improvement.
SMK Holy Smoked has left a lasting impression. We can’t wait to return and explore more from their menu. Until next time!
And did I mention that their meals won’t break the bank because they are budget-friendly?
