Mango Lemonade

It’s mango season and it is a must to make this Mango Lemonade.

Mango is my first favorite fruit. It’s like I’ve been eating this fruit even when I was still in my Mom’s womb.😂 I could eat one or two kilos or mangoes in one sitting. I could eat it with rice alone (like the sticky rice with mangoes – but haven’t made that until now) or with just anything.

Summer is a season for perfectly cold drinks. The summer may smell and feel sticky (if you know what I mean), but I could also smell mangoes whenever I go outside – haha!

Being so insanely hot outside – walking on the way to work from home & from work to home – makes me want to make a refreshing drink. Something like this Mango Lemonade…

I am not a huge fan of the classic lemonade, but when mixed with other fruits, I am definitely in!

This Mango Lemonade was made few times before I get to ‘perfect’ the taste I wanted – not too sweet and the lemon doesn’t overpower the taste of the mangoes.

You may ask me – “Jhuls, why no ice cubes?” Hmm, I didn’t add ice cubes coz the first time I did, the taste was more like mango-flavored water than a lemonade. Since my freezer is still half-broken, I couldn’t make ice cubes out of this mixture. Making ice cubes using the lemonade mixture is an amazing idea coz you can still keep the texture and the rich taste of this Mango Lemonade.

Also, you may tell me – “Jhuls, I made this but why too bland or too sweet?” Well, sweetie… depending on the sweetness of your mangoes, you may need to adjust the amount of sugar and lemon. I did make few adjustments before I could get the measurements that worked for me. The mangoes I used were not super super sweet.

Now, after making this – you’ll definitely enjoy a drink that’s so perfect for the insanely hot weather. I made this several times already for the past two weeks. And you know what? I added this to the list of my favorite summer drinks. I hope you do, too. 😉

Do you need more mango inspirations? I have some recipes that you might enjoy, too. 😀

Meanwhile, let me just bring this refreshing glass of sunshine at Angie’s Fiesta Friday #227. I am so excited to tell you that I am co-hosting with Lizet @ Chipa by the Dozen. Ingredients

  • 500 ml water
  • 2 cups mangoes ripe, sliced
  • 1/4 cup white sugar (see notes)
  • 1/4 - 1/3 cup lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a blender, add all ingredients and puree until smooth. Do a taste test and adjust accordingly.

Recipe Notes

Depending on the sweetness of your mangoes, you may need to add or lessen the sugar and/or lemon juice.

I did not use ice cubes as I didn't want to affect the richness of the taste of my lemonade. I just let the lemonade chill in the fridge overnight and enjoyed it in the morning.

Tip: If planning to add ice cubes, I suggest you make ice cubes using the lemonade mixture.
